On 15 July 2016 in Zagreb (Croatia) the opening ceremony of the EU Twinning Light project "Setting up the SIRENE Office: Strengthening capacities of SIRENE operators and end users of the Schengen Information System II (CRO SIRENE)" was organized.
During the opening ceremony a comprehensive information about the structure and implementation of the project together with the expected results were presented. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Dražen Vitez, Deputy General Police Director of Croatia, Mrs. Mirella Rašić, Head of Department for Political Reporting and Analysis within European Commission Representation in Croatia, Mr. Deividas Stankevičius, Head of the Office of Lithuanian Embassy in Zagreb, Mr. Edvardas Šileris, Project Leader for Lithuania and Mr. Marijo Rošić, Project Leader for Croatia.
The objective of this project is assuming of a full and active role in the international police cooperation on the EU level and in the Schengen Area. The purpose of this project is an active and operational Croatian Supplementary Information Request at National Entry (SIRENE) Office and other parts of the Croatian International Police Cooperation Service involved in Schengen activities.
Expected results of this project are:
● Competences and practical skills of SIS II end-users enhanced through practical training;
● Competences and practical skills of SIRENE operators dealing with SIS II alerts and extradition/surrender procedures enhanced through practical training and training of trainers;
● Methodological guidelines for future SIS/SIRENE trainers prepared.
