Police Commissioner General Appointed by the President

Linas Pernavas

The President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, acting in compliance with the Constitution and the Law on Police Activities of the Republic of Lithuania, and considering the offer of the Government, appointed Linas Pernavas as the Police Commissioner General from 11 November, 2014. 

Since February 2014 L. Pernavas had been serving as the Chief of Kaunas County Police Headquarters. Working for the police for over 20 years, L. Pernavas had also been the Deputy Chief of Ignalina District Police Station, the Chief of Zarasai District Police Station (from 2005), and the Chief of Utena County Police Headquarters (from 2008). 38-year-old L. Pernavas has the Master degree in Law earned at Vilnius University.

Moreover, the President of the Republic of Lithuania, acting in compliance with the Constitution and the Law on Police Activities of the Republic of Lithuania, and considering the offer of the Government, removed Saulius Skvernelis from the office of Police Commissioner General.

Police Commissioner General is being appointed and removed from service by the President of the Republic of Lithuania, considering the proposal of the Minister of the Interior and the offer of the Government.
